Before downsizing, I used to make wedding and evening gowns exclusively and was booked almost a year in advance. Now I don't have the space to work with such huge pieces of fabric or gowns, which is extremely sad.

sewing bikinis and panties!!! I have started doing this for friends and family on the side. Also sewing custom wigs, it's like a sew-in but actually sewing the bundles and frontal to a wig cap, great money for custom units!!! I've made myself and my grandmother's wigs so far and am still honing my skills.

Watch my Abuela sew as a tomboy…as a teen took a group class to make drop sleeve top + elastic skirt from pattern..then life threw curve ball & found a sewing class taught by Caribbean elder & made my 1st pencil skirt from simplicity pattern…then pbs had shows like sewing with Nancy & won 3rd place & used bit of prize $ to form LLC, buy singer heavy duty, just before Sears closed, a banner, business cards & payed to be a holiday vendor selling skirts for little girls & home decor pillow blankets…YouTube opened 🆙 a global class on sewing tips & tricks where I learned how to make skirts, dresses, scrunchies, bonnets, mini card coin key 🔑 purses & converted a bedroom into home based sewing temple with Singer, baby lock verve & Lauren serger & added 2 HtvRont digital heat press for T-shirts & saving for compact baby lock, brother or janome commercial embroidery machine…🇯🇲n🇵🇦

My mom does upholstery professionally and at home. She does airplanes during the day and then goes home to do atvs, boats, rvs. And she stays busy I’ve been trying to get her to teach classes cause some of these seats she’s done for planes is absolutely gorgeous and I’m trying to learn so I can make some money while I search for a job

May have missed it, but my gig was sewing on badges for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. I would show up at their meetings pick all the sashes up and they could pick them up from my mailbox. Money maker so easy.

I am a full-time teacher that is approaching retirement. I have an online doll costuming business on Etsy. I sew holiday costumes for collector dolls. It is very profitable! In fact, this is my retirement plan. 😉

So if you live in a farming town!! You can make bukus of money showing tarps for farm trucks! That's what I'm doing.. currently working hourly though for a farmer who was desperate to have someone in the area who make them.. I worked at a sewing factory sewing ground covers and hated it because of the atmosphere there. Now I am working all alone in my own Warehouse and will probably take over this business for him at some point! Anyway, definitely a business opportunity! I make tarps for trash trucks too!

Just getting back to sewing, but I’m a reseller. Pillows do SO WELL on the second hand market. I routinely get $40 for two. And of course, much more. But think about it. There is absolutely no niche you can’t cover with pillows. Pillow themes for firefighters, religious, lizard lovers, boho…no limits. And pillows are easy to make.
Never understood why there are not many sewing classes for younger girls.
Like ballet or gymnastics I think it would be neat. Maybe even a summer camp and give the girls lasting memories and friendships and something to take home they made
I love your video. I'm enjoy sewing as well! I learned from my mom who's an extraordinary sewist. She's done all kids of things including upholstery. For the past few years she's been making pillows and curtains for an interior designer. She makes really good money! I don't like custom projects so I'm always creating my own things. Thank you for the info on the pricing book. One of the issues I have with people who sews is some of them don't honor their work by charging properly for their services and that hurts those who do. Some people expects you to do it for cheap. That's not gonna happen in my world, lol. I consider myself a skilled sewist and value my time.
